that should give you lots of inspiration. plus the ammot brothers are freaking amazing guitar players.

Look dude, don't start out with metal. Try some easier shit first and then you can ease on in here when you start feeling more and more confident.

The best thing to practice is scales. It's boring as fuck but it definitely helps.
